Colours ~ Aveen

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for the delay in the blog post about colours from me this week! I was sick most of this week from the flu and missed some school, which is all well and good, except for when you feel so incredibly sick you just want to curl up in a corner and cry. As soon I went back to school I had a mountain of homework, especially essays which are extremely time consuming. Apologies if this is very short, I'm writing this then finishing my English essay about Sylvia Plath!

So colours. I know my font colour choices aren't exactly colourful, but what is so magical about colours? First of all, it is actually impossible to think of a new colour apparently! But colours possess emotions and the ability to calm a person and their soul. It's quite amazing really that something so apparently insignificant can affect the human brain in such a huge way.

If you didn't know, my room is turquoise. I'm not quite sure why I chose it, I guess I found the colour to be 'cool' and interesting. I was talking to one of my teachers in Transition Year last year and she spoke to our class about colours. Turquoise I discovered is a very calming colour and relaxes the mind, and is apparently an ideal colour to paint your room or a relaxing area.

There are four main psychological primary colours, red, blue green and yellow (or just the primary colours and green) They relate to the body, mind, emotions and essential balance.

The website here!! is excellent for describing colours and I'd really recommend reading it. It's quite fascinating reading about how all the different colours affect us and our bodies, spirits and balance.

Sorry this post was a tad short!

Color Favorites - Ony

Hey, Everyone! Expect loads of pictures in this post, well 9 to be exact :) So for this week's theme on J.o.a.l.l.a.p I'm going to choose ten colors ; red, black, white, blue, green, purple, orange, grey, yellow, pink

Red!:

For red, i have my two favorite red objects :) A picture/card/sticker i got on my birthday in Santa Monica, California when we saw the first photo booth there, and took four shots, happy, mad, shocked, and sad!
The second object is such a burgundy red that i was going to exclude it from the red category, but i absolutely love it too much to do such! I created this collage April 29th of this year using pant led leather jeans, old magazines and a hot glue gun! It was one of my first D.I.Y projects so i was estactic when it came out fantastical! (If you're interested in learning how to recreate this, tell me down in the comments and I'll definitely do a post for it on my main blog!)

Black!:

This one was pretty easy to pick! My bed, my entire frame, stairs and all is black :) I chose this bed frame probaly three years ago, because the only other option was woodsy brown and my 7 year old sister chose that one. And because at the time i thought blackwas just badbutt, and can you say mature? No, seriously can you say it because I've been literally doing alot of think and that word is just, ...
Also, my pen pouch! It's One Direction style, obviously...well obvious to me. You guys might not know but i just have to get this off my chest. I'm a directioner :p

White!:

Hmm, white... I had to do some digging and refrain from writing some lame but witty post about how i love my bedroom window blinds. Then i thought, hmm maybe my cute adorable white bracelet....i lost like two months ago (or longer ) Then i settled on my backpack! I bought this at wal-mart for 15$ I thought it was the cutest thing ever! Still do, it can carry literally anything! I know it looks small but it could fit my three year old siater, if i shoved her in, ya know. (Insert pict- lol no )
°

Blue!:

I love nail polish, i have a buch of colors (insert how many here) to be exact. I still believe however i don't have the neccesary colors, so for christmas and whenever i have money you know what'll be stocking up on. Anywho these pretty blue's are just well pretty.
The other thing in the blue category is the book I'm currently reading "Elsewhere" by (insert author name) is so phenomenal let me give you a brief summary. It's about a 15 year old girl who died from head trauma after being hit by a taxi cab while riding her bike now lives with her grandmother who died of breast cancer in an alternative universe, (realm?) Called elsewhere. Here you age backwards fron the day of your death until your seven days old where they send you back on earth with no real memories of your previous life!
*Mind blown!* I know go stop by your local library or order this via kindle whatever you got to do you need to read this book. I'm actually planning on bribing my library to letting me have this book, or maybe i just needtonot return it? (Stealing is no good, kids!!) :p

Green!:

This cute adorable owl beanie i saw a couple weeks ago at an open house of this art program forced me to buy it. Practically stole the ten bucks out of my jean ( I was wearing sweats :p) pocket and placed itself in my hands. It now sits around staring at me with it's beady eyes from my bedroom wall, due to the fact I haven't yet conjured to courage to where it out in public :/
The second one are these stock paper glasses i got from my cousin/friend's birthday party this summer. Isnt it cute? This too, resides on my bedroom wall :) You could say I'm great at decór
The third one, is the photo album my best friend got me for my birthday :)
°
°
°
°
 Purple!:

Purple is my two best friends favorite color they adore it. But i dont see purple as an I catcher...i don't know why. So for purple the case for my Kindle Fire, I'm currently using to type this roght now! I purchased this sometime earlier this year..
°
°
°
°
Orange!:
Finally my favorite color! It's funny how much i love this color but honestly dont really own anything orange. I used to have this orange and white striped shirt...doesnt fir anymore.
Oh yea, R.I.P i had this beautiful dark orange plastic travel bottle for months but actually when i went to go see This Is Us, i forgot the bottle in my cousins car. I need to get it back....so no pictures for this one :(
°
°
°
°
Grey!:

Easy! My hrey bandanna I got when i went camping with my church in August this year. Grey was my team's color for the entire trip! So now it rest on my wall propped as a heart, like you see from the picture above!
Also, my vaseline container. It's actually and old Carmex co.tainer that i painted the top grey :)
°
°
°
°
Yellow!:

Yellow...Yellow...Yellow....hmm. Well, i have this multi-color picture/poster quote that hangs on my wall. It's a variety of colors, however. But to me Yellow does stand out the most!
°
°
°
°
Pink!:

My dark pink 'Secrets' perfume, i got on my birthday this year from my bestfriend :)

Did you know? - Jamie

Colours

It’s in everything that we touch, see, feel, smell and taste. It evokes different sensations without any approval. It may be the centre of or careers, the way we live, the choices we make and the fun we have. We are all familiar with colour and it’s basic concepts, but did you know …

1.Pink soothes nerves
Did you know that rowdy prisoners and aggressive patients usually have pink walls? Prisons and mental health care facilities use pink to suppress those annoying butterflies. So pink actually has a useful purpose – other than decorating Barbie’s dream house.

2.Bright colours will get you friends
Did you know that colours are responsible for 62-90% of first impressions? This means that if you prefer blacks and neutrals to yellow, oranges and pineapples then you might want to add some more vibrant colours and fruits to your wardrobe to make a better first impression

3. Did you know that blue is the most common favourite colour in the world – 40%

4. Yellow makes you hungry
Did you know that yellow and oranges are not recommended for use in kitchens as they are appetite stimulators. With the increasing obesity epidemic, it might be time for Sherwinn Williams to get rid of the bright citruses that have wrongly decorated kitchen walls for the past 5 decades

5. Colours can be frightening
Did you know that chromophobia is the rare, persistent fear of colours.

6. Colour is an imaginary friend
Did you know that it’s technically all in or heads. Colour does not exist at all. It’s just a side effect created by our brain when it is trying to make sense of our overwhelming surroundings. So if you ever find yourself in a heated argument over colour combinations with someone who has an IQ lower than your car’s maximum speed or is just simply colourblind, keep in mind that it is a pointless argument and you should stop immediately. You’re both wrong.

7. Mummy
Did you know that ‘Mummy’ was once a colour in ancient Egypt. The rich brown colour received it’s name from the actual ground up remains of Egyptian mummies. The Pre-Raphaelite painters of the 19th century considered it their favourite colour (that’s the other 40% for you!). The colour ‘mummy brown’ can still be found today, though no longer containing the remnants of mummified corpses.

8. Men and women see red differently
Did you know that the perception of red corresponds to the X chromosome. Therefore women are much better than men in distinguishing shades of red.

9. The best colour for a car is silver.
According to statistics, silver cars are involved in fewer accidents. This is due to the fact that they are clearly visible on the road and under twilight.

10. Black and white have been very controversial 'colours'.
Scientists believe that white is a mixture of all colours and black is the absence of colours. According to painters white is the absence of colour and black is the colour.

Amazing Alex: What's in my school bag?

Hi everyone! I'm back with a "What's in my bag?" post. I must say that I absolutely love watching these on YouTube and reading them on Blogger and Tumblr. They are so entertaining and I always get ideas on what to carry in my bag.

I didn't get to do this post yet, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show you all the random stuff I carry in my backpack. Maybe it will give you some ideas on what to carry in your back, or maybe not considering it's just the essentials.

You can check out what my backpack looks like by clicking here. It's in the pattern Doodle Daisy.

"Makeup" Bag
There's not much makeup in here at all, but I don't know what else to call it. Haha. It's kind of like an "emergency kit" I suppose you could call it.

Bath & Body Works Lotions

In here, I include a chapstick, a lipgloss, 2 pads, a lotion, and an extra pack of tissues. (It's flu season!)

Main Contents
This weekend, I didn't have too much homework so I don't have that many books and what not.

Pencil Case
Of course I have the boring stuff- highlighters, pencils, pens, index cards (Spanish), and then I have some rather exciting stuff (in my opinion.)

This is my best friend... like ever.

You never know when you're going to need one of these!

I also carry around headphones, my phone (obviously), and more tissues... haha. I think that's about it!

Thanks for reading! Xoxo,

Alex xx :)

What's in My Bag? Writers Edition(Leah's Post)

So I was scrolling through youtube one time or another, and I noticed flashy titles advertising, "What's in my bag!" Now, I'll admit, I never once opened even a single one of those videos but it gave me an idea. How about do one to show all of you guys? So without further or due, here is a glimpse into the bag of a writer, please keep in mind that I carry a bag the size of an eighteen wheeler. Also, some componenets are interchangeable so yeah.

Black Sharpie: If it isn't obvious by the faded writing, I use this thing a LOT. I can't live without it, I can't go without it, and I never ever trust people who ask to borrow it. (Let that be a life lesson, no one should ever ask to borrow your black sharpie without supervision)

Tinted Lip Balm: If you notice, this lip balm is actually the Christmas themed one. It was sent to me in a care package by my aunt last December and I still have it. Yay me! (I can't even keep a fish for 3 hours either it disappears in the toilet or in my stomach) This is a lifesaver. Not only is it a SPF and wonderful moisturizer, but it goes on a nice tinted raspberry color. I am not the type of girl to layer on the makeup. That's why I like this, I can apply it anywhere, anytime without a mirror and I know it will keep my lips purty.

Wet n' Wild Megalength Mascara: Like I said, I refuse to spend time applying a face full of makeup but even being my nerdy self, I do like to maintain that innocent librarian type look. I've tried many mascara's but this is by far my very favorite. The bristles are surprisingly tiny and when I first bought it, I was on the verge of marching back into the store to get my money back. However, when I applied it I realized that maybe these magical mascara fairies had a method to their madness! It's perfect and I suggest it to everyone. The bristles grab every single one of your lashes and make them look fluttery and sweet.

This eraser....I can't even.....I won't even...asfkjbs;gskhdfbfj LOVE: Seriously, my aunt gave me this today and I don't know where from but I will tell you, it was sent by the Gods. I don't care how heavy it is, I will forever carry it around to write any wrongs that could ever possibly mar my life. Just look at it! Ahhhhh perf. :)

Mini Perfume: I do not suggest buying perfume from those mini bottles that you can find at dollar stores. The one displayed here was personally given to me by someone I know who makes these but you can find them at beauty salons, salon stores, flea markets, places like that. They're incredibly cheap for such good quality scents and there's no way you will bump into anyone with the exact same one as you. I love to use this one as an emergency measure. It doesn't spray, it rubs on to your skin so it also gives you a very pretty but not oily glow so you end up looking like you've just walked out of a perfume magazine advertisement. I love reading magazines at the library and now I don't have to swipe the scented advertisements. xD I kid!

Ugh, these cursed things. Okay I give up, I really do need these glasses, I'm as blind as a bat if I have to read anything thats two feet away. On the brighter note, I like to put them on when I'm at fancy places, I get nods of approval and I can keep from looking like an idiot by tripping and falling over entrees and bus boys.

A good book: This is one of those interchangeable pieces since I'm always reading a new book. Depending on where I'm going, I may carry it in my hand with my purse strap hanging from my mouth. I kid again! No but really, my book ALWAYS comes first. (I'm not really into vampire books but I borrowed this from my cousin and so far, it's pretty good!)

Finally, My writing binder. Now this, I try to bring with me everywhere because I never know when inspiration will strike or when I remember something that I forgot while writing. It's actually really big so it's hard to find space for it, but I manage.

I hope you enjoyed this post and got a few ideas as to what you might want to put in you own purse if you carry one. Comment below and let me know :) (that rhymed.)

Whats on my mind? SONG

Hello Beauties!
Its phoebs here, and the theme this week is whats in my....? So I have decided to be bold and out there and write a song called Whats On My Mind. Which is kinda like the theme of this weeks posts. You no, coz its whats ON my , instead of in my ;)  Please comment what you think and check out my blog for more songs! www.geekchicnotes.blogspot.co.uk

This song is based on a guy I met a few weeks ago. Its just how I like him really! As I have said when I post songs on my blog, a lot of emotions are exagerated as I am still young haha.

Small steps , heading to the corner
Out there , nowhere to hide
Turned around facing you now
So I looked into your eyes

(Chorus)
Whats on my mind ?
The light the fire the flame burning
Your deep blue eyes powering
Im loosing control your in my soul
We came closer yeaah.
Whats on my mind?

The wrong way round
I remembered all the bad things
Im seeing you in a different way
But I turned around, facing you now
So I looked into your eyes

Whats on my mind ?
The light the fire the flame burning
Your deep blue eyes powering
Im loosing control your in my soul
We came closer yeaah.
Whats on my mind?

(Bridge)
Your always there
Your always there
Your always there
In my mind
One step down , two steps up
But will this feeling be enough
Its on my mind
Your on my mind!

Whats on my mind ?
The light the fire the flame burning
Your deep blue eyes powering
Im loosing control your in my soul
We came closer yeaah.
Whats on my mind?

Thats the song, hope you enjoyed!
Ta ta!

What's In My School Bag? ~ Aveen :)

Hey Everyone!

This week it's the ''What's in/on my'' and due to not having an iPhone (I have a Samsung Galaxy Y) I decided to do a ''What's in my school bag?'' as I'm in Fifth Year in school, meaning I have LOTS of homework and less than two years left in secondary school, which is extremely daunting.

So here's a photo of my school bag, I need a huge bag because of all the books I carry every day. It'll be a miracle if I don't have a hump on my back at the end of the two years.

Apologies for the photo quality, I had to write/take photos for this post at night time. At the moment because it's October it's dark outside from like 6pm which is not fun!

The crest on my school bag

My actual school bag, I got it online from the Roxy store (as you can tell) and I simply adore it.

A front shot of my bag.

My pencil case from Penneys (Primark) which is meant to be a make up bag but it's large enough to be a pencil case.

My pencil case and my school journal, everyone in my school has the exact same journal to write our homework in and it has to be signed by our parents every week, yes even when we're 17 and 18!

The zip and charm on my pencil case, it's so pretty and cute!

A VERY small selection of my school books, most of my books are these size if not larger, these are some of my Ag Science, English and History books. Woohoo Leaving Cert.

The book I'm reading at the moment, I bring a book into school in case I have a free class or just feel like reading.

A keyring from my locker keys. My Aunt gave it to me as a gift as she said it described me, aww!

Other charms/keyrings on my keys. I used to have lots more accessories on my keys but they wouldn't fit into my pocket! The bus is from my trip to London, the silver key is my locker key and the lamb key is my house key! (I love lambs and sheep, which is why I'm doing Agricultural Science)

A random photo of my Foclóir aka Irish dictionary! I figured not many people would have one of these so I would take a photo of it. It's literally my life saver in Irish class.

Some of my pens and pencils, I have a very unhealthy obsession with stationery.

Finally, because I live in Ireland, I keep an umbrella in my bag! (Weird I know, however it comes in very handy should it suddenly start raining!)

Hope you enjoyed snooping in on my school bag!
'Til next week,
Stay Strong, Happy and Fearless,
Aveen xx
