A Day in the Life of Jamie

A day in the life of a year 11 student is no fun.
It begins at 7:30 am, because I like to be fashionably late to school. Though I normally lie in bed till the sound of my alarm has become the bane of my existence. I then take a shower, brush my hair, put on my school uniform and all that good stuff.
Next is breakfast, which my mother dearest has already prepared, and packing for my favourite subjects: recess and lunch. This normally happens in a hurry as I hate being late to school because I will get a detention.

8:25 - Time for school. Gross (unless I have free periods).

3:15 - Home time! I normally get a lift home, but sometimes I catch the bus. When I get home the first thing I do is change clothes and lie in bed and watch youtube or sometimes do my assignments. This goes on till dinner is ready. Dinner normally takes about an hour since we like to talk about random stuff at the table.

Then it's back to the laptop for more youtube till it's sleep time. I've been trying to go to sleep earlier as sleeping at 1 in the morning isn't very good for you. I think.

Repeat.

Did you know? - Jamie

Colours

It’s in everything that we touch, see, feel, smell and taste. It evokes different sensations without any approval. It may be the centre of or careers, the way we live, the choices we make and the fun we have. We are all familiar with colour and it’s basic concepts, but did you know …

1.Pink soothes nerves
Did you know that rowdy prisoners and aggressive patients usually have pink walls? Prisons and mental health care facilities use pink to suppress those annoying butterflies. So pink actually has a useful purpose – other than decorating Barbie’s dream house.

2.Bright colours will get you friends
Did you know that colours are responsible for 62-90% of first impressions? This means that if you prefer blacks and neutrals to yellow, oranges and pineapples then you might want to add some more vibrant colours and fruits to your wardrobe to make a better first impression

3. Did you know that blue is the most common favourite colour in the world – 40%

4. Yellow makes you hungry
Did you know that yellow and oranges are not recommended for use in kitchens as they are appetite stimulators. With the increasing obesity epidemic, it might be time for Sherwinn Williams to get rid of the bright citruses that have wrongly decorated kitchen walls for the past 5 decades

5. Colours can be frightening
Did you know that chromophobia is the rare, persistent fear of colours.

6. Colour is an imaginary friend
Did you know that it’s technically all in or heads. Colour does not exist at all. It’s just a side effect created by our brain when it is trying to make sense of our overwhelming surroundings. So if you ever find yourself in a heated argument over colour combinations with someone who has an IQ lower than your car’s maximum speed or is just simply colourblind, keep in mind that it is a pointless argument and you should stop immediately. You’re both wrong.

7. Mummy
Did you know that ‘Mummy’ was once a colour in ancient Egypt. The rich brown colour received it’s name from the actual ground up remains of Egyptian mummies. The Pre-Raphaelite painters of the 19th century considered it their favourite colour (that’s the other 40% for you!). The colour ‘mummy brown’ can still be found today, though no longer containing the remnants of mummified corpses.

8. Men and women see red differently
Did you know that the perception of red corresponds to the X chromosome. Therefore women are much better than men in distinguishing shades of red.

9. The best colour for a car is silver.
According to statistics, silver cars are involved in fewer accidents. This is due to the fact that they are clearly visible on the road and under twilight.

10. Black and white have been very controversial 'colours'.
Scientists believe that white is a mixture of all colours and black is the absence of colours. According to painters white is the absence of colour and black is the colour.

What do you guys think? Leave a comment :)

What's On My Phone - Jamie

Hey guys,
As you may know already, this week’s theme is 'What’s in/on my _______'.
So as I’m on holiday in Melbourne, it decided I would do a what’s on my phone.
I have a Samsung S3 that I love very much (Apple lovers don’t be hatin, I’m typing this on my MacBook).

Social Networking and Internet stuff
The brunt of my mobile network, and occasionally my home wifi, is my Facebook, Youtube , Snapchat and Fanfiction. I just can’t get enough of stalking people, sending very beautiful selfies to people and reading those sweet sweet words of euphoria.

Entertainment
I don’t have many games as they take up precious movie space. But the ones I do have include Candy Crush (mm gurl, you crush those candies),
Cut the Rope (cause it was free lololol), IconPopQuiz, Jetpack Joyride, Little Lingo (anyone know the answer to ‘Define: derp’?), My Boy! (for my Pokemon cause you know I gotta catch ‘em all!),
Solitare (Shutup, I’m cool) , Sporos, Temple Run and Whale Trail (ermahgerd so addictive).

Gallery
My photos consist of photo spam by my friends and my little doggie. However, my videos have movies such as Despicable Me, Tangled, She’s the Man and the Karate Kid (Jackie Chan for the win!). My other videos are all episodes of Korean variety shows (I see those judgemental looks on your face!)

Productivity
I’m not very productive so I don’t have anything for this bit.

Widgets, Homescreen and Lockscreen

I quite like my screens since I did customise them myself with the aid of a very helpful website called ‘MyColorScreen’. I am currently using Nova as opposed to the stock Samsung launcher as it allows me to customise my phone. I use WidgetLocker for my lockscreen.

Confidence

Confidence. What does it mean to you?

To me it's the ability or the belief to believe in yourself to accomplish any task, no matter the odds, no matter the difficulty, no matter the adversity. The belief that you an accomplish it. Confidence.

Some of you may be saying "Oh great, I don't have that ...". But never fear, Jamie is here!
I'm going to be sharing 5 simple ways to become more confident.

1. Know yourself.
If you don't know yourself, then other people may come along and try to tell you who you are. They know your name not your story.

Be honest with who you are. There are currently 7 billion people (that's a lot of people!), but there is only one of you. I know this sound corny, but confidence is all about believing in yourself. How can you believe in yourself if you are trying to be someone else? If you're ever asked "If there is anybody that you could be, who would you be?" your answer should always be "myself". Because you're worth it.

2. Don't compare yourself
Don't compare yourself to other people, and don't compare other's to other people. No one likes to be compared, yet we all do it to others, whether it's the occasional gossip or a full-blown bitching session. So many people compare their weaknesses to somebody else's strength, where as other people's weaknesses could actually be your strength. There are only two results that come from comparing. You either become boastful by thinking that you're better than them and letting pride get the better of you, or you end up feeling worthless. Everyone has insecurities, nobody's perfect. So instead of comparing, you should learn from them instead.

3. Feelings.
The world of emotions can be quite a dangerous place, as experienced by those avid readers.

Emotions are a result of our thoughts, so if you think negatively then your obviously going to be sad and gloomy. However, what you think doesn't make it a fact. For example, if you say "I feel like a potato", it doesn't make you a potato.

The thing about confidence is that it can take years and years to build, but only seconds to break. But this is only if you let it. If you think positively and know your real self, you'll be as tough as a rock.

4. Thank those who made you feel worthless.
Those people who said you weren't good enough or doubted you. You are a diamond. If you've ever been to a jewellery store, you'll see that diamonds are always placed on top of black velvet. They do this in order to make the diamond appear more beautiful by contrasting it with a dark colour. Those who doubted you or embarrassed you are like the velvet. They make you shine more brightly, so without them you wouldn't be as amazing as you are.

5. Be yourself.
Should you be afraid of a raised eyebrow? No. You don't need to feel like you should have to change for anyone.

Don't worry if someone doesn't like who you. You're living your life, not theirs.

“Somehow I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarised in four Cs. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.” - Disney

School - Jamie

Hello friendables!
This week's theme is "School" as you can tell from my very uncreative title. So I have started my third term at school for about month now. And at school you have all your essentials like paper, stationary, new clothes (from the school uniform shop of course ugh private schools) and things I hate. Thus I will be talking about what I hate about things associated with school.

I hate it when:

1. People ask me for food.
I normally reply with "Aw hell naw! You go to a private school, you can afford your own food! And no, you may not have a gummy worm" *Stuffs face*

2. I get that feeling when you know you have school tomorrow.
Most of my Sunday nights are spent crying over the fact that I have to wake up at 7 in the morning. Pretty sure that not even roosters are up that early. Now you may ask me, why do you wake up so early? My reply: This face don't look this fabulous on it's own. Actually yes it does.

3. People have no sense of personal space - Girl! I can breathe my own air thankyou very much.

4. The school bus.
I get dropped off at school by my Mother dearest, but I catch it home. This means practically waiting for 5 hours waiting for it to arrive in the freezing cold - which by the way is nearly over. Thank baby Jesus. Once I'm on the bus, I strut my stuff and find a seat that isn't covered in garbage or sweat. Then when I need to get off the bus I have to explore my way through the sea of twelvies. This normally doesn't end well and I usually miss my stop.

5. Back to school ads.
No! Do not even try and make school look fun. You know it ain't!

6. The moment when you realise the terrible mistake you've made of coming to school.

7. Ending up with no stationary.
On the first day of school I've got everything, I'm practically a walking Kmart! I've got my pencils, my books a pencil case with stickers of my face all over it (jks jks). But by the end of term all I've got is a blunt pencil with no sharpener. Stop stealing my stuff people!

8. Lunch
Okay now don't get me wrong, I ain't hating on my best subject. But seriously lunch times? Either you get lunch that's breakfast or lunch that's served at 5 pm.

But it's okay because one day I will graduate. And It will be great. And I will laugh at the people still in school .. until I realise that there is still university.

If you guys have anything that you strongly dislike about school then comment them down below. I would love to know that I'm not the only one who likes to complain.

Let's Set Sail! - Jamie

Hello, this is your captain speaking.
This weeks theme is YouTube, thus I have decided to talk about OTP's this Tuesday.

First of all, for those of you who live under non-wifi connected rocks, OTP means One True Pairing. Meaning that you ship two people, characters or anything together. SO your OTP is your ultimate one that you want to happen. I have listed by top 5 OTP's down below (it was incredibly difficult by the way)!

1. Troyler: Troye Sivan and Tyler Oakley
First of all. Look!
I mean they even have matching couple sweaters!
AAAAAnd One Direction and Hello Kitty stickers. Tell me this isn't true love.

Can you honestly tell me that they are not adorbs! If they are not your OTP, you need to sit down. Don't lie to yourself, you know that deep down you love them.
2. Zalfie: Zoe Sugg and Alfie Dayes

So so so happy that you guys are actually real! - not that my other OTP's aren't real. I can't even express how ecstatic I am for them. You guys can go and read Zoe's post if you haven't already.

Don't even try and deny that they are not the most photogenic couple. Don't even.

3. Tanya Burr and Jim Chapman (I don't know their ship name! Do they even have one?)
I swear, they have the most perfect relationship. If you guys haven't seen their vlogs,  which you most definitely should, you'll see how cute they are together and the way they look after each other. I can't even begin asdfghjkl. They are the cutest little thing ever. That is all.

4. Malfie: Marcus Butler and Alfie Dayes

First and foremost, I want to address Marcus' butt. I think that it is big enough to encompass all the love in the world. No joke.
YES.
5. Phan: Dan Howell and Phil Lester
I am most definitely a PHANgirl of Phan (get it? I know, I'm hilarious). I can't even explain to you the amazingness and perfection that is Phan. Just search up the Phan tag on Tumblr, but be prepared for some pretty weird stuff.

I will go down with these ships!
